Push Beyond delves into the hottest conversion optimisation tools in the industry right now.

In the month of May, we’ve taken a look into the latest optimisation tools from developments in the recording to visual analytics. We’ve also had an insight into AB Tasty and the recording tool SessionCam. Towards the end of this article you will find the latest Optimizely updates and a review on the convenient new copy and paste feature in Survey Monkey.

Crazy Egg Recordings show visitor behaviour first-hand

The new feature launched by Crazy Egg allows visitor recordings to show in real time, exactly what visitors do on your website.

Users can watch customers navigate the page as they search the website for information or hover over the call to action for an agonising second before they click through.

This first-hand experience influences your design decisions, as it is a solid and genuine way to determine what causes a visitor to convert a sale or take flight.

Recordings will be available to Crazy Egg users soon, have the option of running multiple sessions with different visitors navigating through a website. This new feature makes it 100% easier to implement redesign and A/B testing, or hiring an expert to fix an element causing trouble in the customer journey.

This is a sure way to instantly receive feedback and acknowledge roadblocks, rather than swimming in a pile of reports to identify behavioural patterns.

A new session recording feature from AB Tasty

Crazy Egg aims towards research and idea creation whereas the session recording tool from AB Tasty uses data-driven approach in order to draw insights from split testing.

The Nirror recording feature was launched back in September 2016 but since then a number of improvements have been made. These include redesigning the user interface as well as an automatic ranking of the activity level of videos. This ensure that you can filter recordings using criteria like clicks, scrolling, cursor movement and keystrokes.

Additionally, simple JavaScript can be used with these recordings to create automatic tags that easily allow you to identify interesting videos.

SessionCam speeds up error detection

Another valuable recording tool is SessionCam. They have recently launched an Error Reporting platform in which error detection is up to 90% quicker.

This update allows error messages and their frequency to be exposed, taking machine-learning and customer behavioural analysis to a new level. Tracking error messages used to be a time-consuming and labouring exercise for businesses, however SessionCam’s automated approach solves issues with little effort. Clients can now focus on fixing these errors ASAP in order to boosting operational efficiency.

Enhanced new features from Optimizely

New functions have been added to the platform based upon customer feedback and requests. A quick summary of what’s new on the Optimizely X Platform:

User-Based Recommendations

Customers can now be recommended products, content or offers to based on their browsing behaviour.

Recommendations are easy to create and manage. Once they’re published, users can test a variety of algorithms in order to measure the impact they have in real time with the Stats Engine. The engine also works in conjunction with other Optimizely X products for more powerful experimentation and targeting.

Experiment descriptions

Descriptions including information like hypotheses, tags and other descriptives can now be added when creating experiments and campaigns.

More security when using REST API tokens

Administrators can now create REST API tokens with numerous levels of permissions to increase security and usability.

Optimizely’s REST API also allows their users to create and manage Optimizely projects and experiments. Results can be analysed from other applications such as a data management platform, internal system or dashboard. REST API can also be used to send email alerts when specific targets are achieved.

A new feature to jump start your survey design

SurveyMonkey fanatics will gush over this latest feature as it allows users to directly copy and paste question and answer choices.

This now means that if you create a survey offline, you can import your questions and answers from a Word document using Copy + Paste. Therefore, you won’t have to retype your questions! This can be found in the Design Survey section. SurveyMonkey is already an easy tool to use, and this time-saving feature is a welcome addition.
